Summer Starts Here: Big Plans for the St. Marys Aquatic Center
In Episode 90 of the Get ‘N’ Your Business Podcast, host Alison Shores sits down with Isabella Young, Aquatic Center Supervisor at the St. Marys Aquatic Center, and one thing is clear — summer in Camden County is about to level up.
Isabella shares her unexpected journey into aquatics, starting as a teenage lifeguard, studying equestrian programs at Middle Tennessee State University, then pivoting into Leisure & Sports Management. What began as a campus lifeguarding job quickly turned into aquatic programming, certifications, and leadership experience — ultimately bringing her to St. Marys after graduation in 2025.
Now, she’s bringing fresh energy and a clear vision to a 25-year-old facility ready for renewal.
Many residents still don’t realize what the Aquatic Center already offers — a kiddie pool with slides and dump bucket, a lazy river (currently being fully reconstructed), a lap pool with a water slide, and shaded cabanas. But this season isn’t just about maintaining what’s there — it’s about revitalizing it.
Isabella and her team are focusing on repairs, repainting, brighter aesthetics, concession upgrades (including healthier options), and better systems for reservations and communication.
And then come the programs.
This summer will introduce:
Monthly Adult Nights (18+) with decade themes and potential live music
Family Movie Nights with a back-to-school feature planned in August
Water Aerobics for seniors and all ages launching May 27
Expanded Swim Lessons from 6 months old through adult levels
Easier Birthday Party & Private Rentals
And the fan-favorite return of Pups in the Pool in September
The season officially kicks off May 9 (weekends only), moves to full-time hours May 25, and runs through early September.
Beyond this season, Isabella shares a five-year vision: ADA-friendly splash pads, expanded programming, long-term sustainability improvements — and maybe even a wave pool one day.
The message? The St. Marys Aquatic Center isn’t just reopening — it’s evolving.
