Episode 117: Building Better Ballplayers in Camden County
Alison Shores sits down with Thomas Briscoe of Bash Baseball Training & Development to talk about bringing a new place for baseball training, development, and year-round practice to Camden County.
Thomas has been coaching baseball since he was 19, with experience at the college, high school, and travel-ball levels. After moving to Camden County in 2022, he saw a need for a dedicated space where young athletes could work on their game, receive professional instruction, and build confidence without the pressure of a game-day environment.
That vision became Bash Baseball Training & Development in Kingsland.
Episode Highlights
A new training option for Camden County: Bash Baseball gives local athletes an indoor place to hit, practice, train, and continue developing when weather or field availability gets in the way.
Private baseball training: Thomas evaluates each player individually and develops a training plan based on where that athlete is right now and where they want to go.
Small-group clinics: Clinics are designed for approximately five to seven athletes, allowing players to get plenty of repetitions and hands-on instruction.
Private cage rentals: Families can reserve the batting cage and have the facility to themselves during their scheduled rental time. Baseballs, tees, hitting mats, and training equipment are provided.
A low-pressure place for beginners: Thomas explains why private lessons can be especially valuable for kids who are just starting baseball. Players can learn, make mistakes, get repetitions, and have fun without feeling like everyone is watching them.
Developing players for the long term: Thomas has watched athletes he trained as young children grow into high school and college players, with several even reaching professional baseball.
Baseball continues to evolve: Thomas and Alison discuss how technology, advanced training, increased velocity, spin rate, and other data have dramatically changed player development.
Building baseball IQ in Camden County: The bigger goal goes beyond individual lessons. Thomas hopes Bash Baseball can help develop knowledgeable, experienced young players who eventually strengthen baseball programs throughout the community.
Training Options
At the time of the episode, Bash Baseball planned to offer:
30-minute cage rental: $30
30-minute private lesson: $50
Sunday one-hour clinics: $30 per athlete
Group training: Available for athletes who want to train together
Memberships: Planned for players and families looking for ongoing access
