Howard Gilman Waterfront Park in Historic Downtown St. Marys |
Can you imagine a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon letting all your stress go by the wayside as you sit in St. Marys’ beautiful Howard Gilman Waterfront Park along the St. Marys River listening to great classic country music?
Beginning May 2nd, Marshall Rowland in co-operation with St. Marys Downtown Development Authority will host “Country Sunday in the Park”. The event will feature the best of South East Georgia’s country music musicians and singers as well as several members of the Woodbine Opry. The fun begins at 3 PM and continues until the crowd goes home. This fun filled event is perfect for all the family and friends and it’s FREE!
Rowland, who occasionally sits in with the Woodbine Opry on Saturday nights, will take the mike as emcee. He’s a Country Music pioneer in North Florida having been associated with WQIK in Jacksonville and WBGA in Brunswick, both country music stations. Having been born in South Georgia, Rowland started his country music career by playing for dances and shows throughout the area.
Come early and visit some of St. Marys’ finest restaurants nearby, the Riverfront Park is right on the waterfront in historic old St. Marys. If you live in the Fernandina Beach area ride the waterfront ferry over and listen to the band crank out those great country hits of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Either way you’ll enjoy the 1st Sunday in each month by visiting old St. Marys and “Country in the Park”.
